It's not a real storm until we lose power.
That said, we've never been in the dark for this long.
Hurricane Sandy took her own sweet time ferrying her way up to this area, but when she finally arrived... (expletives deleted). While various storm trackers suggested we should not be experiencing winds gusts over 50 miles per hour, I could tell from the sound that they were much higher.
After a number of surges and flickers, the power finally gave out about 8 pm Monday evening... right in the middle of heating up dinner.
