Oh, Lourdes   Charlie wants to set out on a pilgrimage to the town of Lourdes in France. We recently watched a news show about Lourdes. Millions of people visit the small town each year to bathe in and drink the spring water that is said to be a miracle cure.  Charlie’s eyes lit up.  He dropped his iPod into his lap, inched closer to the television and turned his head to me. “Can we go???”     I’ll Huff and I’ll Puff   read more

  • Touch

    Updated: 2012-04-27 06:17:19
I started watching a new show on Fox called Touch. It stars Keifer Sutherland as the father of a child who is described as special needs. The kid doesn't talk, can't be touched and essentially doesn't communicate. Kiefer accidentally discovers that his son is "speaking" to him through numbers. These numbers are a road map for essentially helping people or bringing them together. It's almost as if the kid is clairvoyant.   read more

To his right sat a serious boy with a persistent squint and short hair that sprouted out of his backwards baseball cap.   read more

  • Workout Woes

    Updated: 2012-04-25 00:09:47
In November, I became determined to lose the extra weight that I'd put on and to just get my overall health back in line. Since then, I've lost 10 pounds and brought my averages into a much lower range. I'm still determined to lose about five to ten more pounds and continue to get my blood sugars more stable.   My weight has plateaued after the 10 pounds and I can't seem to get anything else off. It seems to fall off in "chunks" and not gradually which I don't really understand. I've been counting calories and working out as much as possible with Jillian Michaels' DVDs.   read more
