• Consolidating Oracle E-Business Suite R12 on Oracle's SPARC SuperCluster

    The Oracle Optimized Solution for Oracle E-Business Suite R12 12.1.3 is now available on oracle.com, Giri Mandalika reports. The post provides a brief explanation of optimized solutions and provides a link to business and technical white papers available to download once a user has registered and logged on. Mandalika also explains, and provides a detailed graphic to make his point, how when Oracle e-Business Suite R12 is consolidated on SPARC SuperCluster, it is Oracle Solaris Cluster and Oracle Real Application Cluster that deliver the high availability required for E-Business Suite.

  • Provisioning Capabilities of Oracle Enterprise Ops Center Manager 12c

    Two new videos on the Oracle Learning Youtube channel cover the provisioning capabilities of Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c, Owen Allen reports. Both presentations are by Simon Hayler. According to Allen the first video shows how to provision Oracle Solaris zones, explaining how to create an Oracle Solaris Zone profile and then showing how to apply it (using a deployment plan) to a target system. The second video shows how to provision an x86 server with Oracle Solaris using a very similar process: you create an OS provisioning profile, then use a deployment plan to apply it to the target hardware.

    It has been 20 years since the introduction of Solaris 2.0, Larry Wake observes, and in this anniversary year, Oracle announces Solaris 11.1, with new provisioning and update capabilities: the integration of Oracle ZFS, Zones, and IPS -- the new network repository and update system. olaris 11.1 is designed to tie in to Oracle Solaris and the Oracle stack and to all the third party software, and SPARC and x86 hardware that's supported on Solaris. New features also include integrated network virtualization and the connected cloud management feature.
