• Should I Listen to My Tailor?

    Updated: 2012-02-29 11:54:49
Of all the questions that I have been asked, this is one of the most strange. Why was it asked? A reader of my blog was having his first bespoke suit made and requested a double-breasted waistcoat. The tailor suggested a single-breasted waistcoat instead. The reason? “…they said it was old-fashioned and not very flattering.” Sighing [...]

  • Alternative Tops For Work Outfits

    Updated: 2012-02-27 06:54:16
Here are some alternatives to the standard suit blouse. A cool fashion top like these, makes a nice break-off for a suit, giving it a different look and personality. While the business suit may be a standard thing in the corporate world, you could take some lisence with your top, and create a different personality for the suit by spicing it up with a designer top with an interesting cut. Wear one of these tops with a pair of suit pants, or nice slacks. (But not with jeans - that would be too casual for a work outfit.)

  • Light Gray Pant Suit With Green Blouse For A Spring Look

    Updated: 2012-02-26 23:07:44
One way to make a woman's business suit more summery or spring like, is to wear a blouse that is of a rather thin and delicate material. For a spring look, wear a business suit in a lighter shade or gray (not black, navy or dark gray). Then choose a top or a blouse in a thin material that would normally pass for a summer garment, almost a bit on the casual side.

  • Robert Downey Jnr

    Updated: 2012-02-26 23:00:00
For over 20 years now, Robert Downey Jnr. has been appearing on our screens. Since the days of Weird Science, we have seen him in an astonishing array of roles, from comedy, action and even thrillers. The man has it all in the bag when it comes to acting. Little wonder that he is also a very snappy dresser and a lover of the tailored suit. Over the years RDJ has literally sported thousands of amazing tailored outfits. Most of which stem from the movie set, whether it be Sherlock Holmes [...]<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/ASuitThatFits/~4/-MeMtyZq1LU" height="1" width="1"/

Amidst the glitz and glamour of fashion pundits, socialites and a handful of lucky bloggers, more than 200 designers showcased their Fall 2012 runway and ready-to-wear collections in New York’s Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week. This year, their looks featured lots of rich hues, tailored fits and a sense of modern professionalism with belted blazers, cropped trousers and pointy-toed pumps. Heck , maybe I’ll even grow a beard and pick some grapes with Dean Moriarty In an effort to divert myself from seasonal affective

    Updated: 2012-02-20 10:57:14
The subject of funerals may not exactly be the most uplifting diversion on a wet afternoon but a recent conversation with an acquaintance, regarding a funeral I attended, was so pertinent to matters of sartorial etiquette that I simply had to pen my thoughts and share them with readers. For it was when my partner [...]

  • Belts – An Underestimated Accessory

    Updated: 2012-02-14 06:25:36
The world is full of belts. Don't underestimate them as an accessory. To have only one belt as THE belt that you wear with every single work outfit, is not a good idea. And to have one black belt for cool toned outfits, and one brown belt for warm toned outfits - well, that's what men do.

  • Revamping Wedding suits: Alternative styles

Gone are the days when Brides only wear white and so to it seems are the restrictions of the kind of suits that ridegrooms can on for their big day. With the advent of many alternative wedding styles it is quite exciting to be in the tudio at the moment and see what interesting ideas walk through my door.

  • A Flash of Lining!

    Updated: 2012-02-09 23:00:00
An ever-present question when I tell people what I do, is what is it that makes me love menswear and tailoring in particular? I must admit that I do love being asked this, purely because it lets me rant on about a subject that is very close to my heart. The beginning of my reply always starts with the statement that I love tailoring for its subtlety and attention to detail.
