If nothing else, the end to summer was amusing. Traditionally, Britain can always be relied upon to produce the goods when it comes to disappointing weather. And so it was for the fashionistas who descended upon London for London’s September Fashion Week. Instead of leaden skies, a premature chill and weeping clouds, the inhabitants of [...]Men's Flair

  • Dinner Suits At The GQ Awards

    Updated: 2012-09-25 00:00:00
It's been quite some time since I've seen such a stunning display and array of gentleman's inner suits! Those attending this year's GQ Awards Ceremony in London provided quite the sartorial feast into which I most happily delved. Though with so many to choose from I've selected a few of my personal favourite show-stoppers:<img style="margin: 5px; float: left" src="http://www.asuitthatfits.com/shop/images/stories/gary-barlow-at-the-gq-men-of-the-year-awards-in-london-0912.jpg" alt= [...]

  • Tweed the Season to be Jolly

    Updated: 2012-09-19 00:00:00
I'm not against Christmas. In fact, I rather enjoy it. In my adulthood, however, I find it increasingly difficult to get in the mood as it were until very late in the eason  Christmas has become a rather busy time for weddings and so I am  usy in my Queen Square studio discussing whether the groom is required to wear the colour-scheme chosen by his betrothed, in the lining, or not. Or whether or not weed s an acceptable alternative to morning dress - to which the [...]

One of the most pleasant ideas of buying clothing and accessories is that, after they have ceased to be useful for the purchaser, they find renewed purpose with another. We all know the Patek Philippe story about not actually owning something but simply looking after it for the next generation; it’s marketing bumf, certainly, but [...]Men's Flair

  • The Cropped Trouser Suit

    Updated: 2012-09-11 00:00:00
One of my favourite trends in non-formal suiting recently has been the cropped trouser. The look has, over the summer been seen in all the fashion capitals of Europe, cementing it as a credible style for the smart gent. The designer Thom Browne is the original trailblazer for cropped trousers and they are still very much his signature item today. He wears them with anything from a two button work style suit, to a tweed number and even a cropped trouser dinner suit!

  • Rare Moment: Bow Tie Morning Dress

    Updated: 2012-09-10 15:35:12
“You’ve written a lot of articles about morning dress!” a friend exclaimed to me recently, as he scrolled through my column on his phone. “Is it your favourite topic or something?” For reasons unknown, even to me, I do happen to write a great deal about my views on morning dress. For an ensemble that [...]Men's Flair

  • The Odd Suit Jacket

    Updated: 2012-09-06 16:53:38
A dear friend recently asked me what I believed to be the difference between a suit jacket and a blazer. “I know what the literal difference is” he smiled “I just want to know what their uses are. I mean, can a suit jacket ever double as a blazer?” This is possibly one of the [...]Men's Flair
