Hi,
I am wondering if you can identify this lily from the photo. It is not in bloom yet, but I am having a garden tour at my house this weekend and cannot identify it. As you can see the lily grows on a single stalk. There are many flowers on each stalk and if I remember correctly one blooms a day.
Thank you,
Lisa Rogers
After seeing the last photo posted in this thread (http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?p=295134#post295134) I looked up this cultivar to learn more about it. Everything I read said it was a "dwarf" that never got more than 3'. But the one shown is so big? So is it *not* a dwarf cultivar?
Also, does anyone know of any other cultivars that have a similar delicate foliage?

There is a lovely little wildflower garden at UBC outside the School of Population and Public Health building (formerly Library Processing Centre). I've seen it come up the past 2 years with a mix including (probably non-native) lupins, poppies and others.
It goes from nothing in early May, then green leaves slowly filling the bed, with the first flowers out at the end of May and a riot of...
I saw this tree in my neighbourhood and I really want to purchase one for my backyard. Could anyone confirm the name of the tree and tell me where I can purchase one please? Thank you
Usually I dont have a hard time finding videos on youtube that will teach me how to propagate plants, however I have been finding quite a few conflicting videos. I found step by step directions, but would prefer a video. Can someone please supply me with a link to a good video.
Thank you,
Bradley
Our white wisteria is about ten years old and it thrived in the past. This and the last spring, just before the flowers developed, the central stems of some of the pendulum clusters looked as if something took a bite of it. The cluster wilted, the bite turned brown and the effected clusters died. Also one of the twining trunks is now completely dead.
About 4 years ago I had an impulse to...
I too have a Weeping Cypress, that i purchased last fall.
A few weeks after planting, I noticed a few brown spots here and there, which I just accounted for the trauma of planting.
Now that spring is here, the browning is spreading and I notice new growth as well, mostly green but a few of those are also turning brown. It hass been getting regular water, no mulch around the tree, in...
A reader has asked if potatoes can be grown in the plastic tubs that are sold by Bunnings, Big W, etc., and I will answer it here as the links may be helpful to other readers. Yes, Rebecca, they would be suitable if you add plenty of drainage holes and put several centimetres of gravel [...]
English spinach is an annual that loves cold weather. It is a fast growing, small plant that forms a rosette of green leaves and stems with a flavour more delicate than that of silverbeet. It is a versatile vegetable that can be steamed or used in pies, quiches and soups, and is rich in folate, [...]

Accept it, gardeners — change is the norm for gardens and landscapes. Nature alters growing conditions through weather and seasons, as does the interaction of plants, insects and wildlife. Man creates modifications each time he clears trees to plant grass, introduces non-native species or adds hardscape features.
